STUDY ENGLISH ONLINE USING SKYPE
Anthony Walkey originally trained as a professional actor and started teaching English as a foreign language in July 2000. He has taught in England, Thailand, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Bulgaria, as well as online from both England and Sicily. Classes have ranged from in-company business classes, to general English for children as young as seven. He has taught many students of all ages on a one to one basis, as well as in classes. He is currently teaching teenagers and young children online in China and Sicily, Italy.
He has assisted a senior manager in Riyadh with his thesis for an online English degree; likes students to work up presentations, especially about the companies they work for and can assist with job interviews, business correspondence, voice placement and fluency. He ran his own business some years ago and is friendly, patient and relaxed with students. He has written two full length novels. Other hobbies include current affairs, philosophy, listening to a wide variety of music, movies, and especially international travel.
Please note, students with a level of less than pre-intermediate 1 should study with a non-native speaker. Once they have attained this level, they will benefit from transferring to a native speaker, as they have better communication skills.
LEARNING ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE ONLINE
The great thing about studying online is that you can connect from almost anywhere. So you can arrange lessons at work, at home, on holiday and even when you’re travelling, as long as you have a stable internet connection.
Though studying online is especially useful for intensive conversation classes; grammar, presentations, practice for interviews in English and voice placement can all be addressed and tailored to your needs.
Business English students find studying online very useful as they don’t have to waste time away from work. Topics directly relevant to their work are discussed in detail.
General English for communication purposes works equally well. Topics expand students’ fluency and their ability to deal with the language more fluently and with greater confidence.
Studying online at below pre-intermediate 1 level is possible but it is advisable to study English with a non-native speaker of your own nationality, in order that you can study more effectively. Once you are able to communicate with a native speaker confidently, you’re ready for online classes.
I recommend lessons of either forty-five minutes or one hour in length. Twenty-five minute lessons can be given but these are only normally long enough to cover reading and discussing one topic.
25 minutes = CAD 15
45 minutes = CAD 27
60 minutes = CAD 36
